Mumbo Jumbo

Can someone please explain to me this craziness I see?
I don’t know what it is you feel, but it’s taken out on me.
I’ve never tried to bring you grief, and yet I’m left to pay
For emptiness you’ve been left to know, inflicted yesterday.

Spinning ’round and back and forth, I get a dizzy head.
I think you hunger for a warmth, and yet you won’t be fed.
You’re cold, then hot (or maybe warm); you flicker off and on.
I feel the warmth, then blink my eyes and Poof! the warmth is gone.

You cry about your bed of thorns and yet you never stir.
I smile at what I think you are; you frown at what you were.
You live in shadows of the hurt that happened before me.
I understand the pain you feel, but I’m different, can’t you see?

Oh go on, leave me alone; too dizzy now to dance.
Can’t you put aside your fear to give me one small chance?
I thought that I could trust myself, I guess that I still do
In feeling I could take a risk and show I care for you.
