Running Scared

12/01/79 Leave a Comment

Well you must protect yourself
from the ones who seem to care.
You’ve no time to just relax
’cause these days you’re running scared.

Once you found yourself too close
and you’ve got the scars to prove
that it always will pay off
to never take a daring move.

If you keep yourself convinced
that they live to bring you pain,
then you’ll never get too close
to have your feelings all in vain.

So go on, protect yourself;
you mustn’t hold someone too dear.
If you never take the risk,
then you’ll have nothing to fear.

But then you’ll never have the joy
of knowing how much they can care
just because you opened up
and gave them all you had to share.
