Once young and spry, today he’s crippled by age.
Yesterday’s decisions now yield an empty page.
Compromises made for what he felt was best
left him alone, forsaking the rest.
Now on his porch, as the sun slowly sets,
he thinks of big losses on all the gray bets.
He sits in a chair that creaks like his knee
And wonders had he been different, where would he be.
